I was critically ill and 37 years old, I couldn't walk by myself without support for 3 weeks and had a PIC line for 20 days. The first month after the VAD implant has more to do with make sure there are no complications like GI bleed, clotting, and your INR is stable. By 6 weeks I would expect a level of autonomy thoughAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17459665159019549139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038434242766626700.post-26163194907881081982016-02-10T15:28:29.917-06:002016-02-10T15:28:29.917-06:00Hi Peter,

She does not have family and is being told she needs 24/7 care for 4-6 weeks after surgery but insurance won't cover this expense. She has been told a nursing home/rehab won't take her with a pump. What did you do and how intensive was the need for care after you had the pump implanted? Please respond so I can continue explore options for this woman. He received a heart transplant on August 11, 2011, so a 15 month wait, at the University of Chicago. I'm so sorry your wait has been so long, and with so many complications. Every time I check up on your blog I think, "he must have received a heart by now," and am saddened to read you haven't. I will pray and send all positive thoughts your way that the time to be untethered by machines is near :) Coincidentally today is my husband's birthday. The amazing LVAD and miracle of a transplant is why he's with his family today to celebrate. My wish is the same for you and your family.
My Best,
JoanAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10675968073029438210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038434242766626700.post-45635257675340017222014-05-30T14:29:02.003-05:002014-05-30T14:29:02.003-05:00Sending positive thoughts your way.
